Sepher Yetzirah, the Book of Formation, is the shortest, the most complicated and the most antique of all the books of Kabbalah.
The author is anonymous. The oral tradition dates it back to Abraham but there is no clear evidence.
The book has been quoted since the 5th century and its first commentaries go back to the 10th century.
Sepher Yetzirah describes the Creation through the help of Kabbalah’s main symbols, the 10 Sephiroth and the 22 Letters: the Etz Haim, the Tree of Life.
